The so-called “balanced” earth

Ever stood back and looked at everything,
That was going on in your life?
No I don’t mean disassociation.
I mean a deeper observation.

Tara just had a new born baby.
Life seems a lot brighter, shinier, brand new.
Jeff just lost his childhood best friend.
Life has never looked darker, gloomier.
Nothing seems to make sense.

Donald is graduating today,
He’s the valedictorian, everyone’s happy for him,
Even his high school bullies.
Rena is repeating a grade but that’s not even the main problem.
She might be pregnant for her baby daddy and is contemplating abortion.

Teni is sick of everything,
Hasn’t been to a single lecture since she saw her results.
Her bestie talks about her school from time to time,
Happy to be there but often stressed out.
How would Teni know how she feels when school never resumed for her?
ASUU has been on strike since when? She’s been stuck at home ever since.

Leni has tons of friends who have her back.
Life isn’t perfect but its quite satisfactory.
She has a really nice boyfriend too.
He finds ties weird which Leni thinks is cute.
Frida’s ex has somehow convinced everyone that she’s a monster.
She never really knew a lot of people,
And now everyone that knows her, hates her.

What’s the point of this poem you might ask?
Scientist say that the earth is symmetrical.
Balanced, if i may?
I don’t believe them, there’s just too much going on.
Someone’s having it rough, another is dealt a better hand
Someone messes up or is going through a loss,
another just won a championship Or found a friend while playing golf

The earth is anything but balanced dear readers.
Try to be nice to everyone, you never know how life might be treating them.

I wrote this poem a while back for myself. I know it might not exactly make sense but it was either this or “upside downy life”

My poetry is far from perfect so I’m trying to learn more (via Instagram lol) about literary techniques. I also hope to write some short stories and motivational posts. I really want to but writing poetry is easier because most of it is really just me venting. They’re also a lot more popular for some reason.
